A First at the Ballymena Regional Athletics Championship

On Tuesday 21st January 2014 Maine Integrated Primary School won the Ballymena Regional Athletics Championship held in Ballymena. 27 girls and boys from P5, P6 and P7 were chosen to compete in 12 different events against five other primary schools from the Ballymena area. The events included various relay races, chest push, long jump, five strides, vertical jump and speed bounce. The children were awarded points for each race which contributed to an overall score of 656 points. We finished with a commanding lead over Ballykeel PS who finished second and Moorfields PS who finished third. Team captains Kerry Laverty and Matthew Topkul were delighted to receive the trophy on behalf of the school. Well done to everyone involved!!!
