Uniqueness and Responsibility
28th Apr 2026
As part of our WAU topic on Hunger, P6 have been getting hands‑on by planting their own potatoes. This practical activity is helping pupils understand just how important the potato was to families in Ireland long ago.
The class has also begun reading their new core text Under the Hawthorn Tree, allowing them to connect their learning to the real experiences of children during the Irish Famine and to appreciate how difficult life was for families at that time.
